Where to Snorkel in Curaçao If You've Never Snorkeled Before

Curaçao's reefs start just a few metres from shore, which makes it one of the easiest places in the Caribbean to try snorkeling for the first time. No boat, no crowds, no pressure.

Tugboat Beach (Caracas Bay)

A sunken tugboat sits in barely four metres of water, encrusted with coral and surrounded by curious fish. It's calm, shallow, and unforgettable — the ideal confidence-builder.

Playa Porto Mari

The famous double reef begins right off the sand. Stay over the first band if you're new; there's plenty to see without venturing into deeper water.

The Blue Room

A small sea cave near Santa Cruz that glows electric blue when sunlight refracts through the entrance. It's a short swim and best reached with a local guide who knows the swell.

Beginner safety basics

Defog your mask, never snorkel alone, float don't stand (coral is fragile and sharp), and check the wind. If the surface is choppy, pick another day — the reef will still be there.
